Progress doesn’t happen by chance, it is shaped by history.

At the beginning, there was a man with the determination to give his country and his children a new perspective. That’s why Chung Ju-yung founded Hyundai in 1947 – and that’s what shapes us to this day. The name ‘Hyundai’ means ‘modern times’, deriving from the Korean word ‘Hyun’ which means ‘modern’ or ‘present’ and ‘Dai’ which refers to ‘era’ or ‘generation’.

Healthy Seas partnership.

Hyundai partners with the NGO Healthy Seas to remove plastics and discarded fishing nets from the ocean – using the recycled nets in IONIQ 5’s carpet.
Recover and recycle.

We work with Healthy Seas in the recovery of abandoned fishing nets from the ocean. Their partners recycle that waste into nylon yarn to make new products.
IONIQ electric vehicles.

IONIQ is our electric vehicle line-up brand – which is dedicated customer centric EV experiences that are changing the way we experience mobility.

Hydrogen innovator.

As a innovator in hydrogen fuel cell technology, we are building a hydrogen-related industrial ecosystem: from green hydrogen production to FCEV vehicles.
Hydrogen fuel cell pioneer.

We became a global first-mover in hydrogen fuel cell technology in 2013 with the ix35 Fuel Cell, the world's first mass produced hydrogen-powered car.
Carbon neutrality.

Hyundai is in progress to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 by neutralising CO₂ emissions at all stages of production and operation.

The future mobility technologies currently in development by Hyundai will allow people to pursue an innovative lifestyle and change the way we commute. We aim to create an ecosystem that connects all types of mobility – on the ground and in the air.
